Be a Bird
January 29th
Sleepy Hollow Arts Park, Bismarck
EVENT INFO:

*Bring any kind of whistle, recorder, flute, bird caller, etc. (toys, DIY, or "real") to become birds in the woods.

*Activity 1: We will meet at Sleepy Hollow Park & walk to the wooded area, spacing among the trees. We'll play call and response games with each other & with birds as we sit or stand near our "own" tree.

*We will also take a slow walk through the woods gently playing our sunset birdsongs.

*Activity 2: After we are birds in the woods, we will make paper birds to bring home.

*Materials you need to bring: Any kind of whistle, recorder, or flute. Paper will be supplied, so no need to bring unless you want to bring your own.

*DRESS FOR WINTER WEATHER AND WALKING IN SNOW*

*NOTE the TIME: 4:30

*Gentle Elemental activities are generally on the quiet side & meditative. We encourage participants to listen to nature nearby.

*All ages, free.

Sunset Walk with Birds
January 15th
General Sibley Park, Bismarck


EVENT INFO:

​Join us on a 1 mile walk by the river & trees to listen for birds & nature sounds.

-Free, all ages

​-Registration not necessary


-General Sibley Park


-We will walk silently to try to hear birds (we will pause sometimes to listen).


-You may bring any kind of flute (toy or "real"), bird tweeter, or whistle to make bird sounds ***toward the end of our walk*** (not during the walk).


-You can cut over/turn around at any point.


-We will walk slowly/moderately. It's a gentle walk, not a work-out. 


-DRESS FOR WINTER WEATHER.

Log Drumming
​Dec. 11
​General Sibley Park, Bismarck
EVENT INFO:

​*Join us for a peaceful 1 mile walk in the wooded trail at General Sibley Park.


*Along the way, we will stop and gently make some rhythms on the downed logs and tree stumps.

*Gentle Elemental will provide sticks for playing the logs, as well as some chimes and bells.

*You do not have to make sounds; you can just listen if you prefer.

*All ages.

*Free.

*No musical experience/ability necessary.

*Welcoming to all, including dogs!

*Please dress for the weather so you're not distracted by being chilly.

*The walk is on a well-walked but not paved trail. It may be a little snowy or melting. It's an easy walk, but wear appropriate footwear.

Walk in the Woods

​Sibley Nature Park, Bismarck
EVENT INFO:
*Take a quiet walk in the woods at Sibley Nature Park while the flurries fly!​

*Sibley Nature Park is NOT General Sibley Park (see map).

*The 1.1 mile trail is in a wooded area, far from city noise.

******DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!******
Hats, scarves, gloves, ski pants, layers--whatever you need to stay warm. Don't get distracted by being chilly. It's predicted to be windy, so bundle up. 

*After our walk but while still in the woods, we will have the chance to play simple chimes or little bells for a short time.

*Feel free to bring your own (even homemade) chimes or bells, like wind chimes, finger cymbals, or even a couple metal washers on a string. Participation is optional--or you can just listen. 


*All ages. Free.
